In a recent post, we introduced you to viral video marketing through YouTube. We told you we would be giving you a three-step process for generating massive traffic to your website. We gave you the first step, which is to use the Google keyword tool to generate ideas for videos and to compile a list of at least 30 keywords and keyword phrases that receive at least 5,000 searches per month. Now that you’ve don that, we’re going to give you steps two and three in the process.
Step Two: Add value
This is the part where you actually make the video, and it doesn’t have to be complicated. You can use the camera on your iPhone or other smartphone, you can purchase an inexpensive video camera, or, if you don’t want to actually appear in your video, you can us either Camtasia (PC) or ScreenFlow (Mac) to record what’s on your screen. To edit your movie, you can use iMovie if your using a Mac (it comes preinstalled), or, if you’re on a PC, you can purchase Sony Vega for around a hundred dollars.
The elements of your video are simple: 1) a brief, engaging introduction; 2) the content of your video; 3) the call to action. The third part is perhaps the most important. You always want to include a call to action in your video, and it’s the part that everyone forgets.
Step Three: Follow Through
There are several important tricks that you need to know about posting a YouTube video that will help to ensure its success. First, when you upload your video, be sure to include your keyword in the title, the description, and the tags. The second trick is to upload a transcript. The benefit of this is that your keyword has probably been used several times in it, so this will increase the SEO of your video. The final trick is to add a call-to-action overlay. Basically, this is an ad that gets placed on your video that enables viewers to click on it and go directly to your website.
