Every marketer knows that to market a business in today’s world, you have to at least consider getting involved in social media. But what many marketers overlook—often to their detriment—is the power inherent in video marketing. With so few companies engaging in video marketing, learn to harness the medium and you’ll be a step ahead of your competition, for when you follow a few simple steps and strategies, you can generate massive traffic to your YouTube video and, in turn, generate visits to your own website.
First a few statistics: YouTube has a lot of activity. According to YouTube’s own analysis, they recently had three billion views daily. One month later they reported more than four billion daily views. That’s a billion more views in just a month, meaning that several years after YouTube’s founding, the Internet site continues to grow at an astonishing rate. And with 800 million unique users, you can bet it isn’t just kids watching the latest Lady Gaga video. It’s everyone.
What’s more, 60 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute. In other words, an hour of video gets uploaded every second of every day. That’s a lot of content. So what steps do you need to take to make sure that your video gets ranked and viewed?
There is a three-step process that will guarantee you massive traffic. Today we’re going to give you the first step, which will get you started.
• Step One: Identify Keywords
The first phase of generating YouTube ranking involves doing a little research. This step is crucial to your success, but many people don’t do it and then wonder why no one views their videos. The easiest way to do this is to use Google’s own keyword research tool. To find it, just go to Google and type in “keyword tool.” The keyword tool will come up as the first item. Type in the various options for keyword ideas that you have—one keyword or keyword phrase per line—and hit search. The great thing about the keyword tool is that it gives you not just the information on searches for the keywords you’ve entered, but it also suggests about 100 other related keywords. You want to identify a list of about 30 keywords or phrases that have at least 5,000 searches per month that you can use as a shortlist to create videos about.
This is the first step to YouTube success. In a future post, we’ll tell you about steps two and three. For now, get started gathering together your keywords using the Google keyword tool. Be thorough and compile a complete list. Check back soon for additional information about how to generate massive traffic with your videos.
